The main goal of gum disease treatment is to control the infection. The number and types of treatment will vary, depending on the extent of the gum disease. Any type of treatment requires that the patient keep up good daily care at home. The doctor may also suggest changing certain behaviors, such as quitting smoking, as a way to improve treatment outcome.

Most people don’t realize they have gum disease until they visit their dentist because there is really not many symptoms or signs other than having bad breath at times or bleeding of gums when you brush or floss at times. So in general people think that is normal, but it is not. Consult your dentist to find out if you have gum disease and what stage it is. Hopefully, it is caught early and you haven’t lost too much bone. Gum disease treatment is not a difficult procedure if caught early, but if caught at its later stages, then you may need gum surgery.
